  • Report lost bank cards immediately — most banks have 24-hour international lines
  • Hotel staff can assist with translation for police reports

If You're Arrested or Detained

  • Request to contact your embassy immediately — this is your right under the Vienna Convention
  • Do not sign documents you don't understand
  • Embassy consular officers can visit you, provide a list of local lawyers, and notify your family
